Epoxy coatings : are high build coatings, used for off share installations, chemical plants, Industrial floors, Industrial Installations where resistance to chemical fumes, Brine Water, Alkyd, acids are required.
They are very hard, having good resistance to abrasion epoxy primer is applied before applying finish coat.

All big companies like Asian paints, Berger & Nerolac paints offer such system. Polyurethane Polyester, Polyethylene. They are recent development in coating industry are decorative as well as protective with very good properties likegloss retention, interior-exterior longer durability, resistance to oil , grease, water, alkali & acid, corrosion etc. 
They are single, dual or three component systems. 
Single component can be thinned with recommended thinner & used.
Dual component a catalyst is provided by the manufacturer to be added in appropriate paint as recommended by the manufacturer before use and after complete mix is then used, left-over has no shelf life. 
Three component coating is mainly polyester based when a catalyst accelerator is provided mixing ratio is given on the pack. 
PU & other such coatings are recommended for metal, fibre glass, glass, Wood, Concrete, rubber, plastic, stone etc. Having good interior & exterior durability can be used for house hold appliances, decorative items, Leather goods,steel structures etc.

Polyurethane (PU) coatings:
Single component: is thinnable with Mineral Turpentine  can easily be used by any one has no health hazards.
Dual Component : Supplied as Part -1 & Part-2 to be mixed as per the recommendation given on the pack by the manufacturer. use only in well ventilated areas. Avoid inhaling, direct touch with body etc. Precaution are provided by the manufacturer.
