Textured paint : Available as exterior & interior coating in eye pleasing shades and textures. To hide unevenness of the walls and to provide look better than a flat wall this paint is gaining popularity.
Gives various textured like wrinkles, grits madrasi dana etc. Durable, washable coating. As the application  is typical and done by skilled painters, hence only popular with upper class of society.

Synthetic enamels : we divide these in two categories Air Drying & Air Drying cum stoving.
   They are again divided in General Purpose Super Synthetic enamels. Based on various binders these categorical divisions made. General Purpose Enamels are cheap, poor in durability, are used on walls, metal, wood etc. Used for painting walls(as fillers), steel furniture, wooden doors, panels etc.

Super Synthetic Enamels : have longer durability than General Purpose Enamels. Drying is same as General Purpose enamel.
Touch Dry : 1-11/2 hrs 
Touch free : 3-4 hrs
Hard Dry : 10-12 hrs.

one should take care while buying White Synthetic Enamel. It should always be of a good company like Asian paints, Goodlass, Nerolac paints etc. As the yellowing on ageing is controlled using good basic raw materials.

 

Surface Preparation of Walls : They should be clean, free of scales, dampness, holes, properly done with surface, wall primer. Apply two-three coats. usually wall coating by Synthetic Enamel is avoided. They are used mainly on door, windows, metal frames, wood panels etc.

Painting Wood : It should be well cleaned by sand paper. Apply wood primer. Let it dry as per the instruction of the manufacturer. Do sanding by sand paper to remove loose particles and to make surface smooth & even. Apply two coats by brush or spray.

 

For Metal : Base metal does not have proper adhesion of any paints. It should be clean free of dust grease, oil etc.
Phosphating is required to have better adhesion. Phosphating chemicals available with paint dealers.
Apply red-oxide primer or zinc chrome primer.
Now apply synthetic putty, so that if the surface is uneven, the dents are filled. Remove extra putty by sanding. Synthetic putty is available in the market like Appcolite  (Asian paints)

Note : The container contains some water over the base putty. There is nothing to worry because this is not any defect or problem but necessary to maintain consistency of putty intact before use. Remove water, mix well and apply.
After putty apply two-three coats of enamel. Thin down with turpentine or synthetic thinner to brushable consistency. Do not thin more, otherwise there shall be sagging problem.  Thin according to instruction printed on container by the manufacturer.

AD cum stoving : Surface preparation is same. Only change of primer & putty is required. These should also be same air drying cum stoving. Baking is done at a nominal temperature of 90-110 Degree Centigrade  for 15-20 minutes.
Systems like wet-on-wet coatings also available.
